Having always shown an interest in drawing from an early age, I was encouraged to study Visual Arts by my parents and teachers and was trained in a variety of other media including painting, sculpture and lino printing. In my graduating year of high school, I was fortunate enough to have my HSC Body of Work ‘Hong Sher’ (a series of four large brightly coloured pastel drawings that celebrated my family life and Chinese cultural heritage) nominated for selection in the prestigious Art Express exhibition. In 2003, I enrolled in the UNSW College of Fine Arts in Sydney where I completed a BA Digital Media with the hope of pursuing a career as a 2d animator and an illustrator. During this time I gained a broad spectrum of skills in digital media including 2D and 3D animation, sound design, lighting, video, photography, and digital compositing. It was during my university years that my fascination with Japanese pop culture, particularly of anime and manga became the most apparent and I was inspired to create my own first manga ‘Tenshi Yuri’ for my graduating piece. Currently, I am employed as a full-time graphic artist for a reputable gaming company, although I also work as a cartoon-caricature artist for events and functions on the odd weekend. When the opportunity arises I have been known to take the occasional freelance graphic design or animation job and I have just recently had the pleasure of making an anime-style animated music video 'Martin Place' with my COFA classmate Fiona Darwin for a wickedly- stylish local band called Modular Lounge.
